Celebrating the Holidays with a 25-Year Yuletide Tradition!

Dec 23, 2019Company News

(Binghamton, NY • December 23) Today employees of Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York took part in a very special holiday tradition: Christmas caroling in the Company’s lobby to the delight of all.

Today’s event marked the 25th year that employees have gathered during lunchtime on the last workday before the holiday to sing festive songs of the season. What started as a few employees singing holiday carols with guitar accompaniment has since evolved into a group so large that it lines the Company’s double staircase and now also includes piano, flute and percussion. Adding to the joyful sounds are the phenomenal acoustics of the Company’s historic marble lobby, built in 1904.

“This really is a very special Company tradition for celebrating a very special time of year,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bruce W. Boyea, “and it showcases not only the beauty and acoustics of our landmark home office building, but the caring and spirit of our employees. We are all incredibly thrilled to be part of this year’s 25th anniversary event.”

Under the direction of Security Mutual employee and local performer Angela Schwartz, the carolers were joined by caroling maestro emeritus Mike Whitney, as well as area musicians Lou Liguori on guitar, Rick Pedro on piano and Gerald Hickey on upright bass. Together the group performed holiday songs ranging from traditional carols to contemporary favorites, definitely making spirits bright for all those in attendance.

Whatever traditions you are enjoying this holiday season, best wishes for joyful holiday and a healthy and happy New Year from Security Mutual . . . The Company That Cares®.
