City of Binghamton and Broome County Proclaim “Security Mutual Week”
Binghamton, NY – Binghamton Mayor Jared M. Kraham, and Broome County Executive Jason T. Garnar, alongside local leaders, proclaimed the week of June 9, 2025, “Security Mutual Week”, in the City of Binghamton and in Broome County. These proclamations recognize the many ways Security Mutual Life has contributed to the local community over the decades including charitable contributions to local organizations, volunteerism on behalf of its employees and beautification of Binghamton through the preservation of its historic office building.
“Security Mutual is truly the company that cares. As Mayor, I could not be more proud to call Binghamton its home,” stated Binghamton Mayor, Jared M. Kraham.
In honor of Security Mutual Week, downtown Binghamton will be decorated with Security Mutual Life flags and hanging flower baskets, co-sponsored by Security Mutual Life, in an effort to help beautify the City.
“It’s going to be said many times, but Security Mutual is really just one of those iconic companies in the City of Binghamton, and really in Broome County, that is a model for how companies should be,” said Broome County Executive, Jason T. Garnar.
“Since 1886, we’ve been dedicated to helping support this community and its residents. Security Mutual Week affords us the opportunity to reflect and highlight our involvement in the community and reiterate that this single week stands for a full year of initiatives and service by Security Mutual. I’m also excited to announce that our annual Advanced Marketing Seminar (AMS) is returning to Binghamton this week for the first time since 2019. Starting tomorrow and running through Thursday, over 100 of our key distributors and employees will be engaged in a series of presentations, educational sessions and networking opportunities. Our Advanced Marketing Seminar is a great way to get our distributors to Binghamton to grow closer to our Company and experience all this great City has to offer. We hope that our visitors take some time to walk the streets, dine at our restaurants and shop at our local establishments. Binghamton will definitely be on display over the next few days and for that we cannot wait,” said Kirk R. Gravely, President and Chief Executive Officer of Security Mutual Life.
Gravely went on to discuss the impact Sock Out Cancer® has had on the Greater Binghamton area. “When speaking of giving back, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Sock Out Cancer. Since its inception in 2017, Sock Out Cancer has distributed $1.8 million to participating hospital foundations and other charitable organizations, many of which are located right here in the Southern Tier.”
Founded in 2017, the mission of Sock Out Cancer is to assist financially distressed cancer patients and their families pay for non-medical necessities such as food, transportation, and housing, so that patients can focus their energy on fighting cancer.
Security Mutual Life looks forward to continuing to support the Greater Binghamton area.
