Security Mutual Life Announces Details for the 22nd Annual Jim “Mudcat” Grant Legacy All-Star Golf Tournament

More than 30 All-Stars and other celebrities are set to hit a hole-in-one for local charities at the 22nd Annual Jim “Mudcat” Grant Legacy All-Star Golf Tournament taking place Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Presented by Security Mutual Life and The Black Aces,* the tournament helps support educational, recreational, wellness and other programs offered by the Broome County Urban League and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Binghamton, as well as the food programs run by CHOW and Catholic Charities of Broome County.

Heading up the celebrity guest list this year are two of The Black Aces: Al Downing and Mike Norris. Downing played for the Binghamton Triplets in 1961 before embarking on a successful 17-year Major League career, winning 20 games in 1971. Norris’s professional career spanned 10 seasons, winning an outstanding 22 games in 1980 and pitching an incredible 24 complete games in that same season.

Other celebrities adding to this year’s tournament roster include former New York Yankee, Ron Blomberg; former New York Jet, John Schmitt; former New York Met, Art Shamsky; former Indianapolis Colt, James Mungro; and former Syracuse basketball star, Roosevelt Bouie.

The Jim “Mudcat” Grant Legacy All-Star Golf Tournament was established in 2002 by Security Mutual Life and the late Jim “Mudcat” Grant, together with his fellow members of The Black Aces, to help make an impact on the lives of local children and families. Additionally, a separate fundraising event will be held during the tournament, with those proceeds being used to help support U.S. veterans, particularly homeless veterans in Broome County.

The organizations that we support through this event play such a vital role in the daily lives of children and families, across our area.
